General HSA Administration Dates

Important Dates for All Schools and Tracks Except Early Testing Tracks at Multi-Track Schools

August 25–28, 2008 Test Coordinators enter contact information and group students, using the TIDE system.

September 8–22, 2008 Test Coordinators attend a one-day training session organized by the Hawai‘i Department of Education. Copies of the Test Coordinators Handbook are distributed at the training.

By September 22, 2008 Copies of the translated Parent Information Booklets, which were initially ordered from July 28 to August 14, 2008, and the English Parent Information Booklets will be delivered.

September 22–October 22, 2008 Test Coordinators train Test Administrators on security and test administration procedures.

October 6–13, 2008 Copies of the Test Administrator Handbook, which includes all Directions for Administration, are delivered to schools. Test Coordinators should familiarize themselves with this handbook. Copies of the Student Participation and Accommodations Handbook, and an extra copy of this Test Coordinator Handbook will also be delivered. Please wait until after October 13 to contact the HSA Helpdesk to report on delayed shipments.

October 1–November 14, 2008 Test Coordinators can submit additional orders in TIDE.

October 6–13, 2008 Science and Writing Assessments materials are delivered to schools and must be checked in upon arrival and then stored securely. Schools may receive their materials on different days within this delivery window. You can log on to TIDE to view the tracking number and delivery status of your test materials under the “Track Your Shipments” feature. Please wait until after October 13 to contact the HSA Helpdesk to report on delayed shipments.

October 27–November 14, 2008 The fall 2008 Hawai‘i State Science and Writing Assessments are administered. This includes make-up testing. Each school will determine its specific testing dates and make-up testing dates during the testing window.

November 17- December 5, 2008 Test Coordinators can group students for optional class reports in TIDE.

By November 19, 2008 Test Coordinators may package and call UPS to pick up scorable and non-scorable test materials for students who have finished testing as soon as testing is finished. Make-up test materials can be returned separately. Schools that call UPS after November 19, 2008, to request a pickup will be assessed a late fee of $50 per student unless they have been preapproved for a later pickup by the Student Assessment Section. Materials returned late may not be scored. The fall 2008 administration scorable student Response Booklets and Final Draft Booklets and non-scorable materials must be returned in separate boxes. Scorable student Response Booklets and Final Draft Booklets that are incorrectly returned with non-scorable test materials will receive delayed score reports.
