Secure Browser Installation

A special secure browser must be available on each computer to be used for HSA Online testing. You have two basic options for installing and enabling the secure browser on each computer.

  • Install the secure browser on each individual computer, either one-by-one or through a network. We strongly recommend this setup, as the browser’s performance will then depend only on the computer on which it is installed.
  • Install the browser on a shared network drive. In this setup, individual computers connect to the server and run the browser from the shared drive. The browser files are then transferred to a temporary folder on the individual computer and run from that location. We advise against running the secure browser directly from the network. It will result in a substantial increase in network traffic, and users may experience delays.

Instructions for both secure browser installation options follow.

Install the secure browser on each individual computer

One-by-one (manual) installation

  • You can go to each computer to be used for testing, access the Internet, and download and install the browser on each machine.
  • You can download and save the browser on a media device (such as a removable drive) and then copy it onto each computer.
  • You can download and save the browser to a network folder and then copy it onto each computer.

For any of the above options, go to http://www.alohahsa.org/online/browsers/default.html, and download and install the browser to your desired location (an individual computer, a media device, or a network folder). Download and installation instructions are available on each download browser page. You may also click the following links to access PDF files of instructions:

If you must install the secure browser on computers to which you do not have administration or installation rights, click here for instructions for Windows.

Again, we recommend against running the secure browser from a shared network drive. However, if you must do so, click here for installation instructions for Windows.
